Original rocking Blues from New Jersey's best loved Bluesman!
Produced by Bob Lanza and recorded at Skylab Recording studio in Roosevelt, New Jersey, Time to Let Go is Bob’s fourth album release. Its 11 tracks, a mix of soulful originals and cool covers, showcase Bob’s powerful blues guitar work and sinewy vocals.
“This album comes at a time when I've had a lot of loss in my life,” confesses Lanza. “My mother and brother both passed away while I was recording this CD. It’s a tribute to them, and a suggestion to all of the families that go through difficult times; you gotta let ‘em go and continue life.
“From the sound engineers to the people at Connor Ray and all who helped on this project - these people are what make the world go round. To see how much help I got while doing this CD was just mind-blowing to me.”
Joining Bob on the album are his regular touring band members, plus The Cranberry Lake Horns and several special guests, including Steve Krase on harmonica.
The circumstances that occurred during the recording of Time to Let Go fueled an extra level of expression of visceral feeling from Lanza, which manifested itself in both his guitar playing and singing. “My guitar is raw, powerful and very emotional on these tracks,” he admits.
Born and raised in the wilds of northern New Jersey, Bob Lanza took advantage of his proximity to New York City to learn from the great Johnny “Clyde” Copeland and Floyd Phillips. Their influences can be heard in the passion embedded in all of Lanza’s music. More recently, Bob Lanza has provided support for Trudy Lynn and James Cotton on their East Coast appearances.
Bob Lanza sums up the music on Time to Let Go with this message: “the blues is alive and it’s coming to get you!!”

His songs and "Song Productions" have been affectionately described by many of his fellow Musicians and Colleagues as > Easy Listening Cow-Jazz.  A unique blend of "Easy Listening POP, a sliver of COUNTRY, and a slice of Smooth JAZZ".  Because of this, some songs have been very difficult to categorize as to a specific Genre or Style. However we've done our best to sort songs into different Genres.

At the age of five, during visiting his aunts, he was introduced to the music of Elvis Presley and Chuck Berry. Six years later he bought his first album, I Feel Like a Millionaire by Champion Jack Dupree. At the age of 14 he started to learn play the guitar and at the age of 16 he started to write songs lyrics. During his career he wrote about 100 texts and some of them were used by other artists such as Boz Scaggs, Bonnie Raitt, Dusty Springfield, Bill Wyman, Chris Farlowe, Long John Baldry, Paul Rodgers and others. Between 1975 and 1981 he played the piano in the Boogie Woogie and Blues Band, which recorded two albums and gave concerts mainly in the Netherlands, Germany and Italy. In 1990 he started to sing (he made a vocal attempts before, but discarded they because of trying to focus on playing the piano and guitar).
BlueSide of the Road, the previous Leigh Blond record, was released in 2006 on the RM Records label. It was poorly presented in the European market . Finally, the album was marketed in the Southern US states, Texas, Louisiana and Mississippi, Leigh Blond says in an interview I had with him, in June 2013 in London. The Dutch Artist received an award for it in 2011. January 2012, a brand new record with 12 Leigh Blond songs was released.
SUBTLE WAYS, it is called. All music written and produced by Leigh Blond. Playing the record, one can’t deny Blond is an original style, with a wink to Eric Clapton, Peter Green, Ry Cooder, Gerald Rafferty, Mark Knopfler, if you like. Subtle Ways contains moody Blues and stirring Ballads and light Rock & Roll. Anglo constructions in American scaffolding. A predominant role for the slide guitar on Blonds’ records almost has become a tradition. By the way, on Subtle Ways Blond plays all guitars, keyboards, harmonicas and percussions, apart from all lead vocals.
I felt like doing the record on my own in the first place, inspired by individualism. Eventually, Herman Deinum, Hans laFaille, and a few other fine musicians joined the making of Subtle Ways. Don't forget Katie Humble and Caz West ...." The album is a listening delight to many people. Subtle Ways is an easy going blues, ballads and rock and roll album. And the new album musician! Listen and enjoy!

Born and raised in east San Jose. Influenced by the great concerts in the Bay Area and all the music within my own family. The a.m. radio at the time brought us Jimi Hendrix, Little Richard, BB King and Donny Hathaway in the same half hour. My family brought me homegrown pure folklorico music from Mexico. Dancing and playing and singing. Mix it all together and you get bands like War, Santana and Tower of Power – which are all heavy influences into how I think of rhythms and music.
I started out on the accordion. A great big one. Bigger than me. I had to pull it around in my red wagon and have someone put it on me once I sat down. That’s how big. Soon my brother Dennis was turning my head with the guitar and blues a la Peter Green’s Fleetwood Mac, Muddy Waters and the Rolling Stones. I graduated to rhythm guitar so my brother could practice his leads. Jimmy Reed all day for me. Then I saw an old cat play harmonica in the greyhound bus stations. Went out and mowed lawns all day one Saturday till I had $2.75 to get a marine band ‘c’ harmonica from Langone’s music store on Alum Rock Ave. next to Chuck’s Hobby Shop and across the street from Peter’s Bakery. I played it to everything. Everything on the radio. Everything I heard. I played along. In key or not. I played. I got a rack and played guitar and harp and was the neighborhood jukebox getting called onto friends porches and lawns to play a song.
We worked. I worked all the time. We played on my street. In garages. At jams at the bodega in Campbell, San Jose. At parties. All over… Playing blues was without question already my direction. I loved rock and still do and more where it came from. I studied records and liner notes and went to meet and hang out.
I carried guitars and shined shoes and snuck wine in to hang out. I just wanted to hang. And I did. Like so many of my friends and cats before me did. We just loved the old dudes and the blues dudes and women and had as much fun as we could.
In San Diego during my stint in the navy I met William Clarke and Smokey Wilson. The Paladins had a rehearsal built in my garage. We all ran together and i saw some great shows and played some. OK a lot. I had met Charlie Musselwhite when I was a kid hanging out at the bodega. He was with John Lee Hooker. I only wanted to play what they were playing. Lowdown. Smokey was unreal. And he and Bill Clarke were tight as family and thru them I met everyone down there and we played in Watts. Ricky and Laura’s. Pure pleasure lounge. Smokey’s Pioneer 88 on Vermont and 88th. JD Nicholsons’ after hours on Avalon. Harmonica Fat’s upstairs on 88 and Broadway. The Safari Room with Cardell. It was lowdown. William Clarke was family and will always be and a giant influence on everything to me. Hollywood Fats was a friend and just so much fun to watch play. The great James Harmon ruled the California coast and is as big an influence as anyone. Larry Taylor along with Junior Watson and Harmon and Bill and Fats were so great to have around and watch and play with. I learned so much from all of em.
After the navy and Southern Cal I went to Texas. Started in dallas and met a ton of great musicians out there and played with Freddie Pharoah, Hash Brown, Felix Reyes and Dallas cats. Met Sam Myers and Anson Funderburgh and would live with Sam Later and play once in a while with Anson. And me and Sam would do gigs. Sam on drums. Unreal.
From there Kim Wilson and Clifford Antone brought me down to Austin to play at Antones. I met every blues cat I ever wanted to there. They all played there and hung out there. During anniversary week just one year for example, I played with Buddy, Luther Tucker, Jimmy Rogers, Bob Strogher, Willie Big Eyes Smith, Pinetop, Bonnie Rait, Denny Freeman, George Rains, Mel Brown, Hubert Sumlin, Mike Buck, Rodney Craig… See what I mean? It was blues heaven and I was rolling in it. Drunk. It was the most musical unreal time.
Me and Alex Napier (Texas legend) leave for our first tour and we still didn’t have a van. We borrowed from the Continental and a tire shop and three friends with jobs and bought a dodge ramvan for 800 bucks on Lamar. Built a loft for a bed on top in the back and gear underneath. Welded some of the holes shut in the floor. Although the exhaust leak in the back would knock you out without fail. We didnt even have a whole tour booked but would show up places and play for food and gas. And we did. Sometimes we had actual shows. We opened up for all our friends. Roomful of blues and Albert Collins and all kinds. And the blues is a small world. One week on the road could bring jams with Uncle John Turner and Ronnie Earl and Denny Freeman.
I played in Texas till I got sober, with the help of some great friends. Some who are gone now. I went back out to California and got signed to Warner Chappell and William Morris then ICM. I played with the Greg Allman Band and met Warren Haynes and Woody Allen playing in that group when we toured. I love Warren and we all loved Woody. I met Matt Abts later and watched Gov’t Mule go thru all the stages from birth of that great band. Over the years I have done various appearances with Gov’t Mule and will do so till the end I imagine. At the end of the Allman tour I played with the Allman Brothers Band off and on for a few years and I would do shows here and there. I met Richie Sambora in the early 90s and i played harp for him for many years on his solo projects. A more generous helpful giant hearted rock star would be hard to find. A regular Jersey cat who loves blues. I am thankful for all the help he laid on me and exposure.
After it ALL blew up at the same time, I left. Went to Spain for two weeks and stayed. Began touring Europe and playing with a whole new set of cats. The most rewarding part of my Spanish trip, with the “spanishes” (as Smokey Wilson says) was and will alway be the flamenco. I met and was brought into the Amador family. The Fernandez family. Heavy weight flamenco blood line. Cathy Claret belongs to that family and I have recorded and played with Cathy and have played concerts with Raimundo Amador. I wrote a song in tribute to that first meeting.
Flamenco Soul is on my new record and I have moved back to the states. Billy Gibbons, Matt Abts and Jorgen Carlsson are the rhythm section for that song. After touring with the Alvin Younblood
Hart Muscle Theory playing bass for Alvin, I went back to Spain and closed up shop. I recorded this latest record No Matter What I Do on Blue NDN Records. A label I started with Shannon Green of California. We hope to develop a few friends and artists if we can get this record moving. The direction of it all is blues power and help for blues artist. We hope.
More recently I played with Warren Haynes as a duo for his set at Levon Helm’s Ramble. Since then I have been back and will continue to do so. The environment and vibe that Levon has created with his enormous soul and incredible music has been an honor for me to partake in.
For the future I hope to finalize a project with my cousin Russell Rodriguez, nephew Lico Zuniga and Taj Mahal. That is my dream project and goal for now. Taj Mahal has been a great help to me and more than an influence. I have shared the stage with Taj and it’s incredible. To say the least.
The second project I have on my list is Corey Harris, Pura Fe and Alvin Youngblood Hart, my cousins and me. These are goals I am working towards and hope to see all of you on the journey.

Billboard Chart-Topper Jazz Artist U-Nam is back with a brand new album “Surface Level”. U-Nam says: "I’m very excited about this new album and I hope you will enjoy it as much as I’ve enjoyed writing it and recording it. The album has a mix of everything I love, Funk, Smooth Jazz, Soul and a little bit of new influences.
I had the help of my usual team and friends on this album, plus some new faces:
Shannon Kennedy (Sax,Flute), Dwayne “Smitty” Smith (Bass), Denis Benarrosh (Percussion), Ramon Yslas (Percussion), Fran Merante (Drums), JFly (Drums), Bill Steinway (Piano), Christian Martinez (Trumpet), Maria Grig (Violin & Alto), Raymond Gimenes (Strings Arrangement), Kim Chandler (vocals) & Tim Owens (Vocals), but as well my very good friend Bob Baldwin, and my new “Protégé” and Skytown Records new artist Valeriy Stepanov."
Guitarist U-Nam has earned a deserved reputation for strong up-tempo groove driven Smooth Jazz. ‘Surface Level’ will consolidate that rep. His playing is clean and crystal clear – you can hear the influence of George Benson in it. Tunes such as the infectious ‘Going For Miles’ and upbeat ‘Plus de Funk’ groove nicely. ‘Surface Level’ is another catchy piece. Covers of Dayton’s ‘Sound Of Music’ and the Mary Jane Girls ‘All Night Long’ add familiarity to the set and are rendered tastefully.
Born and raised in Paris / France, U-Nam began playing the guitar at age 12, and studied for three years at the Paris-based CIM – the ?rst European school for jazz – between 1986 and 1989. At age 19
he turned professional, becoming a ?xture at Paris studio sessions. Well known throughout Europe and the US as a musical trendsetter and innovative player in Instrumental Music, Soul, and R&B, Emmanuel “U-Nam” Abiteboul has more than earned his reputation as a virtuosic guitarist and producer. Since his move to the US from Paris, France in 2007, Guitarist U-Nam has had the opportunity to perform, record and produce several of the top artists in the Smooth Jazz, R&B, and Soul genres. He has traveled throughout the US at events and Festivals including the Catalina JazzTrax Festival, Jazz on the Green, the JazzTrax Big Bear Festival, the Dave Koz and Friends Cruise et al. His performances extend outside of the US, he will be performing in February 2010 at the Dubai Jazz Festival. Originally a renowned producer, U-Nam has worked with a number of International Artists including Barry White, Kool & the Gang, Honeyz, Louis Fonsi, and MC-Solaar, earning him several Gold and Multi-Platinum records. In 2007, he established himself as a prominent solo artist with the release his sophomore album, “Back from the 80s” which included the #1 hit “Street Life”. “Street Life” stayed in the Top Three on the US Billboard Charts for three months and the Top Ten charts for an entire year. In 2008, U-Nam signed with the prestigious guitar manufacturer, Ibanez. In their 2009 product catalog, he was honored with a double page feature alongside legendary guitarists George Benson, Pat Metheny, and John Sco`eld. U-Nam has three album releases as a solo artist. “The Past Builds the Future” (2005) was #2 on SolarRadio UK (the largest soul radio station in the UK). The album had signi?cant radio airplay in Europe and made it into the Top 47 on the US charts. “Back from the 80s” (2007) was the number one album of the year on Jazz FM, Steve Quirk’s Fusion Flavours, as well as a #1 on the US Billboard Charts. Tim Gartland is a singer-song writer harmonica player living in Nashville, TN. He is a contemporary blues artist commited to honoring the rich tradition of blues while moving the genre forward.
His original music is a blend of Chicago blues, soul, and Americana. His lyrics are focused on today's world. Following the collective wisdom of writers before him, Tim writes lyrics about themes and issues that he is passionate about.
Tim is commited to the craft of songwritting and original music. His live shows are a combination of his songs and songs by song writers he is inspired by such as Percy Mayfield, Willie Dixon, Chuck Berry and Allen Toussaint.

10. It all Depends - 6:59

Explosive and exciting: That’s how a blues rock album should start, and Eddie Martin’s 10th studio album “Black White and Blue” begins like it means to take no prisoners. But if you are expecting endless guitar soloing and a generic list of grooves instead of proper songs – so often the case with blues-rock releases – you are soon enlightened. Martin’s songs may ROCK but they are well-crafted and sophisticated. After 2 rave-reviewed big band projects, the blues-man Eddie Martin is back with 10 original songs and a punchy trio for his 16th release. “Black White and Blue” marks a career pinnacle for this prolific musician and his 30-year mission to explore, study and update blues traditions.  His humble respect to the Afro-American legacy goes deep and he is not shy to acknowledge the racism that gave birth to the blues. But here he is also cool about the contribution of his white-boy contemporaries since the era of Classic Rock. A verse in the album title song puts it like this “The African legacy shines like a jewel..We’re now in a blend,  but the history is bruised: It’s all black, white and blue.” Martin can strut a blues-rock guitar solo with the best of them (Hendrix and SRV influences resonate on “Angry” and the title track “Black, White and Blue” for example), but Martin is all about pushing the genre forward. Alongside his fluid slide playing and pyrotechnic Strat-wielding he also showcases his extraordinary simultaneous harp and guitar soloing skills. In fact, for all the simplicity of the line-up here, this album is like a lesson in how many different textures and sounds you can treat a bunch of strong songs to in a trio.
Variety is key and Martin’s multi-instrumental virtuosity helps (even though he left his acoustic instruments at home for this set). The soundscapes embrace country slide picking on his gritty Telecaster Custom as on “How”, slide and harp boogie-rock as on the testifying “Mississippi Sound”, but also slick bluesy rock ballad as in “I Choose You” with female backing singer Elles Bailey, to T Bone Walker and Peter Green influences as on “I’ve Lost My Phone” and the tender “Graceful Ways”. Commended by the Penguin Guide to Modern Blues Recordings for the “originality and intelligence in his music” it is not surprising that often Martin’s lyrics are deeper than the usual blues-rock fayre. The album closer “It All Depends” darkly ponders post-modern political themes, but then “I’ve Lost My Phone” and “Too Much Choice” explore comic situations with everyman humour. But the variety doesn’t detract from the unity of the album. Abrasive angst is balanced by mature-lovers themes. The carefree humour of “Too Much Choice” and “I’ve Lost My Phone” is the yin to the yang of heavier numbers like “It All Depends” and “Song of Five Things”.
After completing his mammoth Anglo-Italian blues orchestra project Big Red Radio, Martin chose simpler options. Staying home to work in a trio, he recruited outstanding young players from the lively Bristol music scene, Tom Gilkes and Zak Ranyard. They ably rose to the challenge of Martin’s approach to the blues, which could perhaps be summed up as “Study and Respect Tradition and then Follow your Own Star”.  Dishing out the coolest of grooves – as if with sacred reverence to the jook joint blues tenet that dropping the beat is a shootable offence – the lads command an impressive style range and still come up with something new along the way (just listen to Gilkes’ playful cymbal lines).
Martin is full of surprises and, running his own record label, he relishes the creative freedom this allows to do something fresh and different each release. If it means his work is sometimes difficult to pigeon-hole then don’t worry. As Willie Dixon said “Blues is the roots: the rest is the fruits”. Eddie comes out rocking on this one. But its nothing if not a juicy new fruit to savour from the blues stall of the “Ambassador of British Blues”.

This band hails from Liverpool and George Wickstead, front man and founder, has taken this band from its conception in the late 70’s to present and in that time has toured all over the UK and mid Europe.
There is no doubt that he has become over the years a beacon for live entertainment and still gets that buzz live music gives.
A new era starts and a new CDd is forecast and more live shows both here and Europe – there is no stopping this powerful in your face brand of energetic rhythm and blues.
George on lead vocals and harp, and plenty of Liverpool banter, takes no prisoners and gets to business with ‘Ridin’ on the L&N’, ‘Long Grey Mare’, ‘Treat Her Right’, ‘Messin’ With The Kid’, ‘Hoochie Coochie Man’, ‘Come On In’ – ending the first set with “Gloria”, the Van Morrison hit.
Colin Guthrie superb on lead guitar – a gifted musician – played his last gig with the band and is moving to pastures new, we wish him well. The rhythm section of Mike Cain on bass guitar and on the drums Matt Shaw – they have an association going back over 25 years and it showed amazing work from this magnificent pairing.
The second set cracked off with ‘Woolly Bully’, ’29 Ways’, ‘Lonely Avenue’, ‘That’s It I Quit’, ‘Bullfrog Blues’, ‘Bad Is Bad’, ‘King Bee’, and ‘Smokestack Lightning’.
The dancers danced, the crowd shouted for more, a night of live entertainment from a band that has it all.

Extract from album review...
"From start to finish “Is There Something” is a solid, rock steady release. On the first track Is There Something, all I can picture is a man dragging himself down a deserted highway, sun ripping through his black t shirt, no water in sight… waiting for one lucky 18 wheeler to pick him up and take him to the next town. Screeching electric guitars, a moseying drum beat, and satisfyingly smooth vocals drip from this track into the next.
Why Worry is an upbeat, ode to taking it easy. “Why Worry, Why Worry now”…as if saying everything is over and done, why let any negative thoughts bring you down? Another stand out song from this album “Loving Arms” starts off with a velvety jazz lounge feel. “There’s a right way to loving me, open up your loving arms, let’s do this the right way” A dark windy road through the mountains of West Virginia, King’s sultry vocals swing in and out of the music, leaving you on the edge of your seat, anticipating his next words.
With a few albums under his belt, Nelson King is surely a musician to keep on your radar."

This collection of all original songs is a breath of fresh air from the Garden State - SteppingSTONE's Roots Rock sound is a blend of crafty song-writing, melodic guitar and fiddle melodies led by honest, soulful vocals. I'll Be Coming Home is a collection of feel-good, honest songs from the soul. SteppingSTONE Band is an original rock band from North Jersey where interstate 80 runs from the big city to the rolling hills and glimmering lakes of the northwestern counties. Like sitting in traffic at 5:00 there are no short cuts home, and musically that’s the road they've traveled.
After playing in a number of different bands over the years, the members of SteppingSTONE found “home” after ...blending creative words, situations, sounds and experiences through music; a mix of storytelling, blues, soul and rock n’ roll and driven by an eclectic mix of voices the band continues to pick up steam and as it gigs regularly around the North Jersey/ New York area. Yet still looking to widen their bounds so that their rich blend of melody, soulful stories and infectious rhythms can be heard and felt. SteppingSTONE continues to create new material while covering renditions of the songs that made us all fall in love with music in the first place. The band's sound and influences consist of Eric Clapton, Tom Petty, U2, The Beatles, Dave Matthews, Van Morrison and too many other names that would fill this page. Fans are drawn into the music as the Band's sound and songs have something that appeals to everyone.

Savino - Sexmentally Assaulted

 7. Blitsed again - 3:21
 8. Take-a-bath! - 2:57
 9. Sex-Mentally-Assauled Pt. 2 - 6:02

You can mention SAVINO together with bands such as TEEZE or TUFF LUCK that basically are Glam Metallers but far too heavy acting for that genre. That 4-piece built around their vocalist Savino reminds me much more to a Power Metal band playing Glam Metal. In places they are VERY heavy and so is their sound, Metal as fuck! "Take-a-bath!" for example is purest Speed Metal, with an intensity that I seldomly (or let's better say never) heard on any Glam Metal album. There's just 1 pretty bad track which is the R'n'R number "Blitsed again" and the rest is good powerful guitar driven midtempo US Metal with Glam edge but of the kind that we all do enjoy and having a little screamer behind the micro! The whole sleeve looks private, everything (including the cover artwork) was self drawn or handwritten (back sleeve - looks messy!) while the label (TWAT Records and tapes) hasn't any address printed but instead Savino's address can be found there. Wouldn't suggest anyone to ignore that obscure record if you ever find a copy at all!

 9. Just Another Son - 3:16
10. The Likes of Me - 4:37
11. Flyin' Time - 3:54
12. Little Red Boat - 4:37

Solid guitar centric thoughtful Americana born from blues, rock, and jazz.
Draped over a remarkable band with background vocalists, Smyth Jeffry’s formidable guitar playing, sturdy vocal skills, and journeyman songwriting take center stage in this release. Electric or acoustic, Jeffry is at home on every axe and leads the way with his command of the six strings.
Jeffry explores wide terrain on I Play Guitar both emotionally and musically. Songs range from reflection (Father Sky) to love lost (of course), to celebration (Stand Up!). You’ll hear insecure longing in “This Will Be My People”, and you might hear shades of Elton John in Mark Stalling’s piano break. The playful “Likes of Me” shows an almost country flavor and Jeffry proves the point by donning his 5-string banjo (for its debut) to add color to the song. The record even features a favored co-writer Holly Russ Johnson on lead vocals singing “Flyin’ Time” as Jeffry takes to the lead guitar. Closing the record with hopefulness (and unveiling Jeffry’s jazz leaning) is the samba “Little Red Boat”. It should bring a smile.

11. Strings Attached - 3:36
12. Hosanna - 4:53
13. Rodeo Girl - 4:00
14. Heroes (bonus track) - 5:15

Johnny “Boots” Giannicchi is the real deal: a fabulous blues- rock guitarist and singer who has gigged and worked hard to get where he is today. Besides these roles, this Connecticut gentleman is also the band leader and producer of his latest release, All or Nothing. This CD is a blues-rock juggernaut that includes nine original tracks and four well-chosen covers. There is a definite Stevie Ray Vaughan vibe to this work, with occasional forays in the directions of delta blues and country.
Johnny is joined on this release by Peter Bennett on bass and Darro “Sparkie” Sandler on drums. This power trio is augmented on occasion by the tremendous Hook Herrera on the harmonica and co-producer Paul Opalach, who sits in with various instruments on many of the tracks. All of these folks are more than capable musicians, and any changes in personnel are not obvious as there is good continuity throughout.
“Stone Cold” is the lead-off track for All or Nothing and right away the listener can hear that Johnny Boots has a masterful grasp of blues and rock guitar. This is an uptempo 12-bar blues song that uses some great kitchen metaphors to describe the inevitable swings of a grown-up relationship. Johnny’s voice proves to be strong with just the right sound for this genre. It was a wise choice to position this song up front on the CD.
One of my favorite tracks on the album is the title track, “All or Nothing,” which has a lot of 1970s psychedelic blues rock in it. Lots of soaring guitars and ride cymbal on this one take me back to my youth. I am picturing a smoky concert arena with oodles of red stage lights when this one is playing through my headphones.
They managed to sneak a ballad into the mix and “Actions Speaks Louder than Words” is a great song with heartfelt lyrics. This track is a perfect opportunity chance for Johnny to slow down and show off his voice. His guitar work is sublime on this track, and shows that he knows enough to not have to play every note just because he can.
Stacy Williams provides vocals for “It Takes a Big Girl to Cry,” which is a duet that comes straight out of the 1950s. Ms. William’s voice meshes perfectly with Johnny’s, and this slower tune is a nice change of pace. Opalach brings the bass guitar and keyboard parts, and Boots gives the listener some tasteful picking on his electric guitar.
Johnny Boots does not limit his songwriting to temporal subjects, and feels comfortable expressing his eternal views in “Hosanna.” I had not expected to find a Christian rock anthem on this album, and this one is a neatly-crafted song, with many layers of acoustic and electric guitar. There are some nice backing vocal harmonies, as well.
The cover tunes run the gamut of blues, and include Robert Johnson’s “Crossroads,” Son House’s “Death Letter Blues” and “John the Revelator,” and Elmore James’ “Shake Your Moneymaker.” “Crossroads” is the funkiest version I have ever heard, and Hook gets to tear loose with his harp. Things don’t go too far astray, and the spirit of the original is still there. Both of the Son House songs start in a more traditional delta blue style, but electrify quickly. House’s lyrics surely stand the test of time, and would make these tunes work no matter what you do to them. “Shake your Moneymaker” is one of the faster versions around and is chock full of crazily distorted guitar, in a good way.
The album ends on a fun (and patriotic) note with “Rodeo Girl” which features Paul Opalach on bass guitar, baritone guitar, keyboards and percussion. He is a jack of all trades, apparently. This song has a countrified sound to it, and the sound of the guitars and the layout of the story give this one a Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers feel.
All or Nothing is a slickly-produced CD with plentiful guitar chops and thirteen very listenable tracks that provide almost an hour of musical entertainment. It is a great follow-up to Johnny Boots’ previous release, Everybody’s Got to Eat, and any fan of blues or rock will find something to like on this one. I recommend that you give it a listen; you will certainly get your money’s worth!

Raucous, rowdy, gentle, sweet, eccentric, quirky, and outright irreverent are all words that fittingly describe Tas Cru’s songs and testify to his reputations a one of the most unique of bluesmen plying his trade today. Cru has received wide praise for his songwriting: As Downbeat magazine notes, “His songs are blues poetry – crafted with rare verbal flair and his ability to cast a memorable hook is magical!” Live, these songs are performed with power and passion. As observed by Living Blues magazine, “The vivacity and sheer joy with which Cru plays is intoxicating!” His brand new album, Simmered And Stewed, now available for pre-sale, will be released November 11, 2016 through the VizzTone label group — eleven songs flavored in most part by resonator, cigar box and acoustic guitar. The album features harmonica, honkytonk piano, Hammond B3 organ and rich, backing vocals. The new album is a worthy follow up to his 2015 album, You Keep The Money – the hottest debuting blues album of the year, almost all year long residing at or near the very top of every major blues chart. It debuted at #1 on the Roots Music Report, with eight of its twelve songs in the top 25, and the album debuted on the prestigious Living Blues Chart at #2.
Presently living in upstate New York. Cru performs in a variety of formats ranging from solo acoustic to a seven-piece backing band. Tas Cru appears at major festivals and blues venues throughout the US and Canada. He and his band of Tortured Souls regularly visit Beale Street during the Blues Music Awards and the International Blues Challenge where at the Rum Boogie Cafe; he has hosted a highly successful fundraiser for the Blues Foundation’s Generation Blues Project for several years running. A committed social activist, Cru also brings his award-winning Blues Education programs and workshops to numerous schools, hospitals and community centers.
Tas Cru is represented by Music on the Couch Artist Management (Vinny Marini) and is currently booking appearances through the Road Dawg Touring Company.

10. Don't Fence Me In - 3:25

With a name like Sons-N-Britches, you can guess that these boys don’t take themselves too seriously. However, they do take their music very seriously. Daron Meek, Rocky Barnes, and Mike Mullis are life-long friends with a rich history of making music together. Growing up in the Due West Community on the outskirts of Kennesaw, GA; these boys had a slew of musical mentors. Local jams in neighborhood music stores and backyard barbeque's provided fertile ground for them to grow as musicians, songwriters and performers. Later; the "Sons" honed their skills appearing with such acts as Kenny Chesney, Martina McBride, Kennesaw, Mark Chestnutt, Travis Tritt and many more.
The band has added an acoustic feel to their most recent work that really showcases their songwriting. In addition to their original material; S-N-B blends traditional Country, Rock, and Southern-style Blues with a touch of Grass. They call it "music from the REAL dirty south." It's like a glass of iced tea with a shot of moonshine (refreshing with a kick).

Dutch (b Norman) Mason. Singer, guitarist, pianist, b Lunenburg, NS, 19 Feb 1938, d Truro, NS, 23 Dec 2006. Raised in Kentville, NS, he played several instruments during his youth, including drums in a jazz band. The earliest of his own groups, which worked around Nova Scotia during the mid-1950s, were in a rock 'n' roll or 'rockabilly' style. Mason, a singer, pianist and guitarist, was introduced to the blues via recordings of B.B. King, who would remain an important influence. Mason performed in Toronto as early as 1959, but based his career in Nova Scotia. During the 1970s he performed in a succession of blues bands in a variety of bars such as Sullivan's in Halifax and the Wyse Owl in Dartmouth. He tirelessly toured Canada as part of the Dutch Mason Trio with musicians such as bassist Ronnie Miller and drummer Ken Clattenburg, building an audience for the blues and earning the nickname "Prime Minister of the Blues."
As his reputation for being a colourful performer in a tough, fundamental, urban blues style grew during the late 1970s and the 1980s, he began working on the club circuit across the country, appearing frequently at the Rising Sun in Montreal and Albert's Hall in Toronto.
Mason's first LPs from 1971, Dutch Mason Trio at the Candlelight (Paragon ALS-263) and Putting It All Together (Marathon MS-2107), were followed in 1976 by The Blues Ain't Bad (Owl Blues Productions OBP-2008), in 1977 by Janitor of the Blues (Solar SAR-2020), in 1979 by Wish Me Luck (Lon PS-733/Attic MLAT-1142), in the early 1980s by Special Brew (Attic LAT-1093) and Gimmee A Break (Attic LAT-1114), and in 1991 by I'm Back (Stony Plain SPCD-1169). In 1998, to celebrate his 60th birthday, CBC Radio recorded a live tribute CD that included Charles "Bucky" Adams (saxophone), Nova Scotia Mass Choir, Doris Mason, Sam Moon, Frank MacKay and Dutch Mason.
Mason was nominated for Best Blues Album at the 1994 Juno Awards and Half Ain't Been Told (2004), earned him a nomination for Best Blues Album at the 2005 East Coast Music Awards.
Mason was one of the original inductees to the Canadian Jazz and Blues Hall of Fame, and in 2005, Norman Byron (Dutch) Mason became a Member of the Order of Canada.
In 2005 Dutch Mason's son, Garrett Mason, earned a Juno Award for Best Blues album.

 9. Bouncing Around The Room -  3:54

Lawn Boy is Phish's second official studio album, released on September 21, 1990, on the Absolute A Go Go Records and Rough Trade labels on cassette, single-LP vinyl and CD (with CD bonus track Fee). Vinyl LPs of the original Absolute A Go Go release are still known to circulate. The album was later re-mastered by Bob Ludwig and re-released on CD and cassette by Elektra Records June 30, 1992.
The songs on Lawn Boy include many of the progressive rock and fusion elements featured on the band's first studio album, Junta, as well as incorporating elements of bluegrass, jazz and barbershop quartet.
According to Phish Archivist Kevin Shapiro: Lawn Boy was recorded and mixed at Archer Studios in Winooski, VT in 1989 and 1990 on 16-track 2" tape and was mixed to 1/4" stereo reels. The band won the initial studio time with a first-place Rock Rumble performance on April 21, 1989 at a downtown Burlington, VT club called The Front. The Lawn Boy sessions that followed consisted of mostly live takes with a few effects and overdubs. Engineer Dan Archer acquired a baby grand piano specifically for the recording, Fishman played his drums squeezed into a vocal isolation booth and the band utilized local musicians including members of what would soon be called the Giant Country Horns. Like Junta before it, Phish self-produced Lawn Boy on a hands-on level, surrounding the console for group fades without aid of automation.
The album was certified gold by the RIAA on July 7, 2004.
In February 2009, Lawn Boy became available as a download in FLAC and MP3 formats at LivePhish.com.
JEMP Records released "Lawn Boy" on Record Store Day 2013 as a Limited Edition Deluxe 2-LP vinyl set. The LE Deluxe 2-LP vinyl set was limited to 7,500 individually numbered copies and was created from the original 1/4" stereo master reels with lacquers cut by Chris Bellman at Bernie Grundman Mastering. Each LP is pressed onto 180g audiophile grade vinyl. Deluxe packaging includes an 8-page photo booklet and an etched D-side.

"Ever wonder what it would sound like if Phil Elvrum, Doug Martsch, and everyone from Mogwai got together and dropped acid? Of course you have, and now, thanks to these guys, you don't have to anymore. The Sideways are, without question, the best thing the New Jersey independent music scene has to offer. Beautiful, shimmering, and indescribably powerful, they've have, in their short existence, already transcended anything their peers could ever hope to create. Space rock meets indie's best." - ben, storybook records

Play the Right Thing is an album by jazz saxophonist Lou Donaldson, his first recording for the Milestone label, featuring Donaldson with Lonnie Smith, Peter Bernstein, Bernard Purdie, and Ralph Dorsey. The album was awarded 3 stars in an Allmusic review by Richard S. Ginell who states "As specifically indicated by the album's title, the title tune's bluesy cast, and Sweet Lou Donaldson's own determined liner notes, this CD aims to strike a blow for soul-jazz, a once-popular, then-maligned idiom newly returned from exile. That it does — with no frills, no apologies, and an idiomatic supporting cast... the CD achieves a comfortable level of competence without really grabbing hold of a groove and riding it the way Donaldson could in his Blue Note days".
