Agostino Santoro - drums, percussion.

MEDITERRANEA is a trio from Caserta, in the region of Campania, formed in 1978 under the leadership of guitarist Fausto Mesolella. Mesolella also contributed mandolin and keyboards and was joined by Pasquale Ziccardi (bass and mandolin) and Agostino Santoro (drums and percussion). The band toured for a few years before releasing their only album, "Ecce Rock," in 1981. The album blends heavy rock, jazz, and Campanian folk elements and melodies, particularly in their use of mandolin.
This was written by bassist Ziccardi: "Fender guitars' smell, fingers through the hair, leather belts, heeled boots, heavy amplifiers, dreamed trips, missed rendez-vous and lunches, worn nights, fake tokens, changing at the steering wheel, military service, punched streets, first time in Milan. . . . For us Mediterranea was a place to find shelter, a destination, a place to die too. To die of Music."
Although "Ecce Rock" was their only album, the music found a ready audience particularly in Japan, where it was reissued with a different cover (which was used on the recent reissue as well). After the group disbanded, Mesolella found success in the band Avion Travel, Ziccardi joined Nuova Compagnia di Canto Popolare (NCCP), and Santoro left the music industry.

 8. El Bosque Encantado - 4:48
 9. Galopando - 3:13
10. Impressions of India (Bonus Track) - 4:40

EQULIBRIO VITAL (Vital Balance) was formed in the late '70s, in Maracay, Venezuela. The original lineup consisted of Marcos Chacon on lead guitar, Carlos Serga on guitar, and Guillermo Gonzalez on bass, flute, and guitar. At this point they didn't have a drummer, but they did have artist Jaime Moroldo as part of the band. In late 1980 they were joined by vocalist Elena Prieto (also listed as literary arts, theater, and dance). 1981 saw the addition of drummer Laureano Rangel, and Arnoldo Serga on bass and percussion. Arnoldo also printed the band's first T-shirts with the assistance of Norma Figuera, and Aracely Ramirez.
In 1983 they signed with Color Records, and released their self-titled debut. In December, they were invited to take part in a movie about Venezuelan rock. "Rock Venezolano" also included Tempano , Resistencia and La Misma Gente.
In 1984 they returned to the studio to record "Kazmor el Prisionero." Information is sketchy, but it seems that this was not presented for release at that time. This could be a case of resurrected album.
1986 saw the addition of Maximino Suarez on keyboards, and guitar, and in 1987 they signed with Top Hit. They recorded their third album, "Calor Humano." Unfortunately, it was only released on cassette, and in limited numbers. The next year, Carlos left.
In 1990, they recorded a fourth album, with Guillermo playing sax. Apparently this was only broadcast on radio. This would be Elena's last work with the band, and the rest of decade would see many more lineup fluctuations. However, they continued to work, compose and play.
Tragedy struck in 2001, when Marcos Chacon passed away. In his honor, Musea re-mastered the debut, and released it as Equilibrio Vital "Tributo a Marcos Chacon" in 2003. They also redid "Kazmor el Prisionero" with a few new tracks in 2006.
At this point the band consists of Guillermo Gonzalez, with some technical, artistic, and managerial assistance from Endgork Moroldo, Jaime Moroldo, and Aracely Ramirez. There is a statement that they are working on new material, but that has been said throughout their career. There has not been a proper new release since 1984.

Airborne Blues Virus "Get On Down"
Very very good groove.
The two guitarist who write the songs are brothers. They are the nicest young men. Great musicains, the whole band, wicked harp and guitar solos, wicked
The older brother who is the main singer and writer, was in band with my husband for a couple of years. "Temple" (hub joined the band when it was already working. The name was theirs. I saw a U2 connection, they didn't)Thank heavens Temple recorded a 5 track CD of originals. The mix was a bit dodgy , but hub has just compressed it and it sounds so much better. I love th eTemple songs. Sunset By the River always reminds me of Bullet The Blue Sky.NICE. I told the guitarist when their album goes gold, the Temple tapes shall be sought after. I know I love to groove to it at home. It's much better than a lot of the crappola on the radio at times. so much soul , so much feel

The Santiago, Chile, based band just released their fifth album. Formerly known as Nico and the Blues Swingers, The Blues Swingers are still led by led by Nicolas Wernakink, who wrote all thirteen tunes on this thirteen song joy ride through various blues styles from the Chicago, Texas and mostly West Coast traditions. Wernakink is also the band’s vocalist, who plays guitar and piano in this five piece ensemble. The Blues Swingers are anchored by the rhythm section of bassist Johan Pasten and drummer Edward Grez. The band’s fine harp player is Erwin Lost. Felipe Ruf plays guitar and shines throughout the entire CD. This little something is worth a listen... The entire record is a lot of fun and like the band’s name implies, it swings hard.

RB Stone's 17th CD: #1 blues rock album on Roots Music Report, Feb. 14, 2016
RB Stone’s parents were huge music lovers; his father, a blues/boogie, rock ‘n’ roller and his mother, a fan of Tennessee Ernie Ford, Janis Joplin, Herb Alpert, Johnny Cash, Sly and the Family Stone, Elvis and the wide variety of hits from the 60’s. At 12, his mother showed him some chords on the piano and Bill Withers’ hit “Lean On Me” was the first song he learned, which started the ball rolling in his long blues/boogie composing career.
Eighteen and just out of high school, music was still a dream that seemed to belong to others, so he hired on with the railroad traveling the Midwest with a 90-man rail gang four days a week. After two years he accepted an offer as an assistant manager at a plumbing, electric and heating store in Ohio, rose to the level of manager and accumulated a house, two cars, two trucks, and two motorcycles.
Restless at 23 RB sold everything but a truck, some harps and a guitar and headed to Colorado to be a cowboy and play music. There he met a horse trainer and lived on an Indian Reservation in Ignacio where he slept in a barn learning horses by day and teaching himself guitar at night. A few months later he got good enough at both and started getting hired by local outfitters to run back-country horse packing, wrangle horses and entertain the guests around the campfire.
Since those early beginnings, RB’s life and career have taken many twists, turns, bumps and bruises accompanied by significant accomplishments. Independent and flying under the radar he has 15 albums under his belt, toured 32 countries & 5 continents, sold over 40,000 albums most of them at his shows. He has a song catalog with Gwen Gordy of the Motown Dynasty at EMI. He’s had principal roles in national commercials, appeared in national music videos and his songs have been recorded by artists such as The Marshall Tucker Band. RB has worked with many major acts from Jazz Greats Hiroshima to The Charlie Daniels Band, has a 14 piece Roots Music Production Show featuring his songs, a Billboard Magazine Songwriting award, to name just a few of his achievements.

Exile features 10 tracks, including the Gary Moore dedication Song For Gary and a cover of Little Richard's rock'n'roll classic Rip It Up. It was recorded in Chesire and is Bell's first studio effort since 2009's Lonely Nights In London. He says: "I'm trying to cover the whole spectrum of music with Exile. This album reflects the music I like to play and listen to." Bell left Lizzy on New Year's Eve 1973, blaming ill-health caused by the band's lifestyle. He remained friendly with his ex-bandmates and guested onstage on the Lynott-fronted version of the band's farewell tour in 1983, performing The Rocker, a song he co-wrote.

 9. Hallelujah Hill (Live) - 4:00
10. Water Run Dry - 3:35
11. Boys of Shiloh - 4:12

A late blooming coming of age record, Carroll stares down ghosts of the past that got shuffled off to the side when living life without having time to reflect on it. Coming of age in the old south as revolution was sweeping through the air, Carroll is questioning now what she might have then, except now she has the luxury of sympathetic all-stars backing her up in fine fashion. Proud of the successful miles she's put under her belt, Carroll puts the last Lego of the mosaic into place with a mature statement that you don't have to be a southerner to get. If you were to take this as nothing more than the kind of album Lucinda Williams has gotten away from making and should return to, it would be a win right there. Hot stuff throughout. --Chris Spector, Midwest Review, Jan 2016, Chicago, IL

On Shotgun Wedding’s debut, South Of Somewhere, out February 18th, the quintet reimagines country’s genre geography with swaggering musicianship and honest accounts of city living. Shotgun Wedding draws from a wellspring of country, Americana, alt-country, rock n’ roll, and the boogie-and-stride piano tradition. With reverent intentions and restless creativity, the five-piece band has boldly settled its own authentic homestead. Here, virtuosic piano and guitar are foundations, swapping lead and accompaniment roles, trading fiery solo spots, and, in tandem, effortlessly nailing intricate riffs and melody lines. The rhythm section is intuitive and eclectic, limberly adjusting to the wiles of the music, as it calls for two-step raucousness, jazzy and Latin finesse, and good old-fashioned four-on-the-four rock n’ roll brawn.

From High Wycombe, England, Ron Watts (vocals), Steve Darrington (keyboards), John McKay (guitar), Malcolm Barrett (bass) and Bob Walker (drums) constituted perhaps the most alarming blues revivalist act of the early 70s. They specialized in an Anglicized form of Cajun with more than a dash of the hilarious smut that saw them banned from many venues. With his foam-rubber phallus and wobbling beer gut, Watts was their sex symbol but Birmingham’s Big Bear Records still saw much star potential in the group’s beer-sodden outrage. Augmented with horns, the aptly titled Opening Time was a diverting encapsulation of their bawdy humour and stylistic motivation but it struck the populous with, shrugged Watts, ‘the impact of a feather hitting concrete’. It seemed that the moment for a UK equivalent of Canned Heat had passed. Produced by Dave Edmunds, a second album was released posthumously when it was discovered that Droop’s line-up for this venture had included Pick Withers and Mark Knopfler, later of the more marketable Dire Straits.

Unfortunately it sometimes happens that we overlook a very good album. In practice this means that it doesn't get the attention it deserves. Such an album is Journey To The Nesting Place recorded by British band Multifuse. This album was already released in 2008, but picked up by most people two years later. Thanks to a friend from abroad this special project formed by Peter Fallowell came under my notice. However, the music of this project was not brought about in Mr. Fallowell's home country. Together with his wife he moved to France and there he found the perfect surroundings for writing and recording his music.
It took Peter Fallowell sixteen years to release his fine debut album Journey To The Nesting Place. In a dialogue I had with him (see interview), he told me that this concept album is an exploration of dreams and nightmares, admission of fears and the need to be loved. He used the name Multifuse because of his musical background including classical, rock and jazz influences. According to Peter Fallowell the album can be regarded as a modern symphony containing ten individual sections that can be best listened to from beginning to end without a pause. He also stated that Multifuse's music can be lightly classified as heartfelt symphonic rock with classical, folk and jazz influences.
When you listen to this album you must conclude that multi-instrumentalist Peter Fallowell is right: as a matter of fact it is a progressive rock album with many influences. With the help of the excellent female singer Cherie Emmitt and the wonderful bass player Tom Allen, Fallowell recorded a very strong album on which he played all the other instruments and some of the vocals. His performance on the drums, guitar and keyboards is strong as you can hear throughout the album, but the most striking is his playing on the electric piano, especially on the first two tracks Hypnotise and Day To Day/Your World. Right from the start these songs strongly reminded me of Supertramp's Dreamer and It's Raining Again. Fortunately the music of Multifuse has much more to offer. The beautiful orchestral parts move towards a musical with hints of Dead Can Dance or Karda Estra. This is especially the case during the almost 24-minute epic Yours Again which is divided into six parts. On this strong piece you'll notice that Peter Fallowell must have been influenced by classical composers like Mahler and Bruckner. So in that respect, it's not so strange that he called his work a modern symphony.
Other musical references on the album might be the music of Mike Oldfield and The Alan Parsons Project because of the way the songs are composed. On the other hand, due to the folky elements on some tracks and the strong vocals of Cherie Emmitt, the music sometimes moves in the direction of Iona. Sometimes she sounds like Joanne Hogg, at other times her voice is reminiscent of the voice of Christina Booth from Magenta. In many respects Cherie Emmitt is an important factor on this dark album that you certainly must play as a whole in order to enjoy this musical journey the best.
During the interview Peter Fallowell promised me that we can enjoy a new musical journey in 2011. I don't know whether it will become again a dark and sad album, but what I do know is that we don't have to wait another sixteen years to listen to a new album written by Fallowell. I'm certain that he again will deliver an outstanding album in the vein of Journey To The Nesting Place.

Exxplorer - A Recipe For Power

Tracks Listing:
 1. Rockin' Bound - 3:51
 2. Life's Seduction - 4:39
 3. One [Hary Nilsson Cover] - 3:00

 6. Rock The Nation - 6:04
 7. Beg, Borrow And Steel - 6:27
 8. Just A Dream - 4:21
 9. Ride The Storm - 5:27

Before EXXPLORER split up for ten years, they released three albums, their debut-classic “Symphonies of Steel” (1985), “A Recipe for Power”  (1994) and “Coldblackugly” (1996). Since their come-back-album “Vengeance Rides an Angry Horse” the band is very active again, and so it was about time to rerelease their second album, which was sadly always underestimated.
“A Recipe for Power” will now be rereleased as vinyl-edition (400 black, 100 coloured) with a top-quality gatefold-cover. The production is warm and authentic (not very typical for the mid-90s) and the album offers 43 minutes of US-type power metal with a bit of prog added. You will hear once again Lenny Rizzo’s touching and magical voice, melodic and simply unique. “One” is a cover-song, recorded as  a tribute to the late songwriter Harry Nilsson. Fans of EXXPLORER will love the typical US-metal songs like “Rock the Nation”  and “Beg, Borrow and Steel”.
“A Recipe for Power” is simply one of the truest and best US-metal-albums of the 90s!

10. Brand New Man - 4:30
11. Long Black Car - 3:08

First album in 11 years by the Ambassador of the Blues. His three albums on Hightone put James Armstrong at the forefront of contemporary blues. Several of those songs have been used in movie soundtracks. In a world where TV reality shows promise instant stardom and post 9-11 travel hassles have forced many artists to hang up their guitars, James continues to tour in the U.S. and internationally as he has for over 25 years. This album, recorded in New York and Texas, is his debut on Catfood Records. Backed by top studio musicians, his searing slide work and soulful vocals make this his best recording to date. These 11 well-selected tracks draw on his rock, jazz, country, and folk influences as well as his deep blues roots, as he manages to transcend the constraints of musical boundaries. CBC Radio wrote "James plays for his audience, extending the reach of the blues to include highly-charged sensuality, yearning and good lowdown fun. Full of haunting and subtle nuances that point to a life rich with experience, this musician has definitely paid his dues."
Blues At The Border has made several best of 2011 lists, is receiving rave reviews and was selected as CD of the Month for February 2012 by the leading UK blues publication, Blues and Rhythm.

Heaven is a heavy metal band from Sydney, Australia that formed in 1980. The band recorded three albums and toured throughout the United States during the 1980s. The group's original style was similar to that of AC/DC but in later years went in a more commercial heavy metal direction along the lines of Judas Priest.
