Choice - Just A Dream

Year: 1980
Time: 40:05
Size: 266,4 MB
Label: Unofficial

 8. Nothing To Hide - 5:36

CHOICE is a German band who release only one album in 1980 named simply Just A Dream on the German label Rocktopus in vinyl format, never issued on CD yet. Three of the musicians from here are from another German band from late 70s EPIDAURUS (Symphonic Prog). When this band broke-up the original members Gunther HENNE, Gerd LINKE and Heinz KUNERT gathered to form a new band - CHOICE. CHOICE'S music is somewhere between Symphonic Prog (not far from German bands from the late 70s like TIBET, TRILOGY or NOVALIS) and some pop elements here and there. A good album, with pleasant pieces, not very complex, but not too simple either. Some keyboard passages reminiscent of ELOY, spacey and very well executed, also the instrumental passages are great, showing that CHOICE was a promising band that for some reasons never made it in music circles. Although long gone, CHOICE should never be forgotten.

A fascinating blend of soft pop, folky psych and early prog… the songs are brief and highly melodic. All are memorable and creatively composed. This is a great record!

Short-lived rock duo formed by York-born singer/guitarist Cliff Wade and drummer Geoff Gill, formerly of the Smoke ("My Friend Jack"). They lasted long enough to release a pair of singles and an LP on the Aura label, before Wade and Gill turned to the more lucrative field of songwriting and scored a hit in the hands of Pat Benatar with "Heartbreaker" a year later. Both also worked with singer Jenny Darren, and Gill went on to work with the Euro-disco outfit Boney M., who had a modest hit with a cover of "My Friend Jack" at the outset of the 1980s.

Body - Madhouse

Art: Full

Tracks Listing:
 1. Propaganda I - 1:22
 2. Madhouse - 7:04

 5. Propaganda III - 1:25

 9. Propaganda IV - 2:45
10. Dreams / Nightmare - 3:51
11. Chase the Dragon - 6:03
12. SRT - 8:12

Very unusual, when a 12-year gap seems like only a few months soundwise.''Madhouse'' was recorded a dozen years away from Body's debut and with a vastly different line-up (only Gary Alliston and John Bleasdale come from the old core, also two female members appear on vocals and keys), but the music is well-rooted in their first attempt, this is tempting British-styled Prog with Floyd-ian and psychedelic touches, based on expressive vocals, layers of atmospheric synthesizer and stretched electric guitar hooks. Some tracks sound like pure Neo Prog of the 80's, other are more in a Neo-Psych mood with electric leads and odd atmospheres. There seems to be another mysterious album (''Mirror image'') recorded by the band in 1989, but has anyone ever seen it?

Assolo Di Bongo - Spinning Like A Top

 7. Spinning Like A Top - 10:54
 8. Bad Boy 'H' -  5:08

ASSOLO DI BONGO are an all-instrumental quartet from Udine (Italy) who play an energetic combination of Italian Prog and driving rock fusion in the vein of D.F.A. and DEUX EX MACHINA. Shades of AREA, GENTLE GIANT and CAMEL can also be heard on their album entitled "Primetime". The band consists of David Accaino on keyboards, Enrico De Stalis on guitar, Elvis Fior on drums and Erico Rainis on bass.Released in 2001, "Primetime" features some strong melodic compositions but the foursome aren't afraid to dig into some extended improvisation either. Despite its heavy aspects, however, their material clearly belongs to the prog-rock fusion rather than the prog-metal fusion category. The musicianship is impressive and the writing unique and enticing, alternately flirting with jazz rock and heavy-duty fusion, at times resembling ELP in a jamming mode. It all makes for a spirited romp of high-energy instrumental prog where everything flows nicely, as the band clearly favours the over-all effect over solo displays. A very 'together' little album, quite impressive and well worth checking out.Fans of D.F.A. and DEUS EX MACHINA will love this, but if you enjoy melodic rock fusion in general and want to hear some fine jamming, you'll have some fun with ASSOLO DI BONGO's material. From Italy comes a band with an immense potential which have signed with the famous and well respected French label-MUSEA!I think that's more then enough for a guarantee that this band and album has many things to deliver!First of all a compositional maturity which proves that in the band are skilled and gifted musicians! And that's the truth, becaue the album is rich in ideas and the musical message is perfect for those who adore fusion in a traditional veine as MAHAVISHNU,DIXIE DREGGS and othe fusion icons!Top production and a great variety of compositions, addition of saxes, cellos and trumpets to the classical fusion instruments,a very pleasant and nice album made with passion and belief for true wonderful fusion music! This album is a giant step ahead compered to the first musical effort of the and,the already excellent debut album under the ASSOLO DI BONGO name! They have changed...shotened the name in ADI B,and this time the Italian musicians are really pushing the musical boundaries to some more focused on composition songs and not on the individual demonstrations!Definitelly, the guys are talented and from the surprisingly muscled BAD BOY H ,passing by JOUNGLE BOX to the complex title track composition, the whole album offers an excellent audition! We hope to have in the future many surprises from a band with wonderful musical perspectives,a developing personality and already 2 excellent albums in pocket! Ablution - Ablution

Bitrate audio: Lossless
Year: 1974 (LP)
Time: 40:24
Size: 293,2 MB
Label: CBS
Styles: Progressive Rock/Jazz-Rock/Fusion
Art: Front + Back

Tracks Listing:
 1. Bluegaloo - 6:25
 2. Woodchurch Sorceress - 1:49
 3. Kokt Tvatt - 5:53
 4. The Nard Finished Third - 7:06
 5. Equator - 5:51
 6. Third Meter Stroll - 6:40
 7. The Visitor - 6:35

Musicians:
Janne Schaffer - guitar
Björn J:son Lindh - flute, piano
Pete Robinson - keyboards
John Gustafson - bass
Barry de Souza - drums, trumpet
Ola Brunkert - drums, percussion
Melando Gassama - percussion

This is an excellent Jazz Rock album out of Sweden although this rather large seven piece band includes three guys from the UK. I like the picture of the guys on the back cover. Two of the Brits John Gustafson(bass) and Peter Robinson(electric piano, clavinet, synths and organ) come from the heavy band QUATERMASS while the other is Barry De Souza out of London on trumpet and drums. The legendary Bjorn J:Son is here on flute, electric piano and percussion.
Man this is such an impressive album to listen to. Mostly uptempo with outstanding musicians playing complex arrangements. A lot of percussion on here along with some incredible bass and drum work while the flute, guitar and electric piano often solo over top. Some exceptions are the short "Woodchurch Sorceress" which is haunting with experimental sounds and sparse flute. And the longest track and closer "The Visitor" is also haunting to a lesser degree as it trips along with some flute and a relaxed sound. Headphone music right here. "Third Meter Stroll" is all about the beats and bass. Love that bass. Favourite tracks are "Bluegaloo" the opener with some funk and flute leading the way. Lots of percussion sounds then the guitar solos after 2 minutes. The other top song for me is "Equator" with that powerful sound and insane flute. Some cool sounding guitar expressions and electric piano too. Just a very well played album with tons going on most of the time. The bass player would go on to play with Ian Gillan band and Roger Glover while the keyboardist went to BRAND X.
