Founded in Klucze, Poland in 2008
MOONRISE is a project band based in Poland, with multi-instrumentalist Kamil KONIECZNIKA as the one and only regular member.
Enlisting the aid of vocalist Lukasz Gall (from Polish band MILLENIUM), debut album "The Lights of a Distant Bay" was recorded in 2007 and released in 2008.
The style of MOONRISE is a blend of influences from bands like Genesis, Marillion and IQ with melodic AOR, producing atmospheric Neo Progressive rock that flows gently from start to end but in some tracks Lukasz also presents us a harder edge with some almost metalic touches, don't expect radical changes but the excellent guitar work and lush keyboards make of their debut album an interesting experience.
Sung in English the lyrics are based in the personal experience and feelings of the author, not the most complex in Prog scenario, but intelligent and coherent.
A good band for prog fans interested in the dreamy and ambiental side of Neo Prog with a hard edge that appears once in a while.

In December of 2017, Devon Allman was ready. After a year of mourning the losses of his mother and father, Allman was ready to make music again. He deeply appreciated all of the condolences and well-wishes, but, respectfully, it was time to forge ahead.
Allman organized a concert at the historic Fillmore in San Francisco to honor the music and memory of his father, founding Allman Brothers Band keyboardist and singer, Gregg Allman, and also to debut his new band, The Devon Allman Project. A proverbial star-studded affair- with guests such as G. Love and Robert Randolph- the marathon performance also marked the beginning of a partnership with Duane Betts, son of founding Allman Brothers Band guitarist and singer, Dickey Betts. It was time, in that historic venue, to pass the spirit to this next generation. It was time to take all the lessons of the past, all their collective experiences, and make something new.
Betts recently had turned solo after a touring stint with folk-rockers Dawes, and would serve as an opening artist on the Devon Allman Project 2018 world tour, as well as joining Allman each night for a musical tip of the hat to their respective fathers. The year-long trek was the first to pairAllman and Betts, and saw the two tally nearly 100 dates at theatres and festivals nationally and internationally, including a summer leg in Europe, and notable appearances at Colorado’s venerable Red Rocks amphitheater, the Peach Festival, Gov’t Mule’s Island Exodus in Jamaica, and a return to The Fillmore for the second annual, sold-out Allman Family Revival.
‘Down To The River’ was recorded at Muscle Shoals Sound Studio in Muscle Shoals, AL and was produced by Grammy Award winning Matt Ross-Spang (Jason Isbell, Margo Price, John Prine and Elvis Presley).
Peter Levin (Gregg Allman’s Hammond B3 player) and Chuck Leavell (former Allman Brothers Band keyboardist and current Rolling Stones keyboardist) make special appearances on the record.

There is Chris Thompson (the voice of Manfred Mann`s Earth Band), John Waite (former singer of Bad English, The Babys, and fine solo artist), Southside Johnny (known as "The Godfather Of New Jersey Sound") and legendary Terry Reid amongst others.
The achievement is a singer/songwriter album containing timeless beautiful rock music, tailor made for great voices. In the finest classic tradition, Rock, Pop & Folk are tied together. In 2008 while Olympic athletes competed half a world away in Beijing, Toby Pazner (Lee Fields & The Expressions, El Michels Affair) and a group of some of New York City's most sought after musicians were locked in Pazner’s bedroom in Brooklyn with a Tascam 388 tape machine, recording what would be the first 45 by a group he would fatefully call The Olympians. Both this and a follow-up 45 would be released on now defunct Truth & Soul Records. However, it was not until a night years later while on tour with a band in the Greek Islands that Pazner’s true vision would come to him…
After playing the famous Acropolis in Athens and swimming in the Aegean Sea, Pazner dreamed he was visited by a toga-clad, curly-haired figure who told him to travel back across the great sea to his home and build a "Temple of Sound". In this temple he was to retell the great tales of Ancient Greece through the immortal language of music. When he awoke, he tried to dismiss the strange dream, but each night the the vision would return to him, and each night he would proclaim his duty more forcefully, until he could no longer deny the calling.
Panzer returned to New York City with a singular focus on completing an album he now saw as his destiny. He immediately commenced building his “Temple of Sound” from the floor up, acquiring the best microphones, tape machines and recording equipment he could lay his hands on. As a member of the Daptone Family, it was not difficult for him to call in favors from some of the world’s greatest musicians to help him bring his vision to life. For years they played alongside him as he relentlessly toiled toward his ends, crafting lush arrangements of strings, harp, vibes, guitar and a plethora of keyboards, all laced by blazing horns. Finally in the Spring of 2016, The Olympians was wholly manifested.
Pazner shared the the fruit of his long venture with long time friends and co-owners of Daptone Records Gabriel Roth and Neal Sugarman who jumped at the opportunity to release it. From the cascading harps which open the Sirens of Jupiter to the driving horn coda of Sagittarius By Moonlight, The Olympians deliver a new sound all of it’s own: an ancient dream of far away Greece painted out in lush cinematic arrangements over the tough rhythm sounds that have become synonymous with the Daptone Stable of Musicians.
Featuring the talents of Aaron Johnson (Antibalas), Dave Guy (Tonight Show Band, The Dap-Kings,) Leon Michels (The Arcs, Lee Fields, El Michels Affair,) Nicholas Movshon (The Arcs, Lee Fields, El Michels Affair,) Homer Steinweiss (The Dap-Kings, The Arcs), Michael Leonhart (Musical Director for Steely Dan), Neal Sugarman (The Dap-Kings, Sugarman 3), Evan Pazner (Lee Fields), and the maniacal wizardry of Toby Pazner.

The Four Seasons - The Genuine Imitation Life Gazette

Bitrate: 320K/s
Year: 1969
Time: 45:18
Size: 104,3 MB
Label: Rhino
Styles: Psychedelic Pop
Art: Front

Tracks Listing:
 1. American Crucifixion Resurrection - 6:49
 2. Mrs. Stately's Garden - 3:15
 3. Look Up Look Over - 4:43
 4. Something's on Her Mind - 2:48
 5. Saturday's Father - 3:14
 6. Wall Street Village Day - 4:26
 7. Genuine Imitation Life - 6:16
 8. Idaho - 3:02
 9. Wonder What You'll Be - 3:29
10. Soul of a Woman - 7:12

The Genuine Imitation Life Gazette is as good as (if not better) than many of the more vaunted psych pop creations.  The songwriting is dense, adventurous and very strong this time around.  Like all great legends, Frankie Valli comes through in a big way, delivering some of the best vocal performances of his career.  The harmony singing is breathtaking, never straying too far from what made the Four Season’s such a great mid 60s vocal group (they were often called the Beach Boys of the East!).  Three songs exceed the 6 minute mark and are epic productions but the shorter psych pop numbers are just as good.  The Genuine Imitation Life Gazette is no cash-in effort or group attempt at jumping on the psychedelic bandwagon, it’s the real deal.  Backward cymbals, phasing and other means of studio experimentation simply add to the group’s strong pop sensibility.  Great hooks, quirky ideas and powerful performances keep this LP grounded – things never sound forced, bloated or too psychedelic. Great pop songs like “Something’s On Her Mind,” “Mrs. Stately’s Garden,” “Saturday’s Father,” and the extended title track expand on the group’s mid 60s sound. Consistent and original, The Genuine Imitation Life Gazette is a terrific LP that always seems to slip thru the cracks. It goes without saying that this is the best LP the Four Seasons ever released.   This is also the achievement that Frankie Valli is most proud of;  in 2002, Goldmine interviewed Frankie Valli who reflected on the album’s lack of success: “We talked about some of the social problems on that album. Nobody was expecting anything like that from us. The record company wasn’t very pleased with the fact that we turned in an album like that. They didn’t do very much work on it. It certainly is an album that I’ve always been very proud of. I wouldn’t call the album exactly psychedelic, [although] it did have kind of a flow or a taste of that. “Wall Street Village Day” was an incredible song. “Soul Of A Woman” was another really great song, and the title song, “Genuine Imitation Life,” is also great. Of all the bands out there, we have touched on almost every kind of music that there is. Everything from “Sherry” to the album Genuine Imitation Life Gazette to touches of jazz with “Swearin’ To God” to “My Eyes Adored You” to “Can’t Take My Eyes Off Of You” to “Who Loves You.” I don’t know many acts out there who have done it as successfully as we have done it.”  Four Season main songwriter Bob Gaudio also had some thoughts on the record: “One of the disappointments of our career for me on a creative level was the Genuine Imitation Life Gazette album. It was just something that I had to do at that time. It got wonderful reviews, but obviously it was not an acceptable piece from us. Everybody was expecting Top 40.” Long time fans usually write Gazette off because it’s a departure from the group’s signature sound.  Dealer’s tend to overlook this classic because it’s an LP by a group who was never considered to be hip, making Gazette a cheap, easy to find score.  Prepare to be surprised.

Dewey Terry - Chief

Bitrate: 320K/s
Year: 1972
Time: 41:00
Size: 94,5 MB
Label: Rock/Funk/Soul/Blues
Styles: Prog Temple
Art: Full

Tracks Listing:
 1. She's Leavin' Me - 2:00
 2. Big Boy Pete - 3:50
 3. Funky Old Town - 5:07
 4. Suit For The Cat - 4:46
 5. Do On My Feet (What I Did In The Street) - 4:49
 6. Reef Ade - 1:34

 8. Sweet As Spring - 3:54
 9. De Blooze (If You Wanna Get Groovy Now) - 5:41
10. Let Them Ole' Stars And Stripes Shine - 3:42

Dewey Terry (1938 - 2003) grew up in Pasadena, California. As a teenager, he sang falsetto vocals in a local doo-wop group, 'The Squires'. Reasoning (perhaps incorrectly) that there was more money to be made in a smaller group, Terry and his friend Don "Sugarcane" Harris left the group in 1957 to perform as 'Don and Dewey'. The duo recorded several classic, blistering Rock & Roll numbers on the Specialty label and others, but never had any significantly charting hits.
It appears that this 1972 album was Dewey Terry's only 'solo' record. It was recorded for the short-lived Tumbleweed record label, based out of Denver, Colorado. The 'Chief' LP is a fun and funky mixed-genre batch of rock, soul, blues and funk. It received a Grammy nomination for Aaron Schumaker's 'writing tablet' artwork and album packaging.

 5. People - 3:55

 7. Purple Dog - 2:33
 8. Easter - 3:06
 9. Taking Care of You - 3:21
10. Sojourn - 4:14

Call me stupid.  I wouldn't buy a bottle of wine based on a label, but I have bought albums based on a label ... witness Privilege.
Other than the fact guitarist Edward Leonetti and keyboard player Paul Venturini had been members of The Soul Survivors, I knew nothing about the band Privilege when I bought their 1969 self-titled release at a yard sale.  As mentioned, what initially caught my attention was the fact the set was released on The Isley Brothers' T-Neck label, with Ronald, O'Kelly and Rudolph Isley co-producing the set.
According to the liner notes the odd collaboration resulted from a Jimi Hendrix/Isley Brothers/Soul Survivors concert at Syracuse University.  Several months after the concert the Soul Survivors called it quits. Leonetti and Venturini elected to continue their musical partnership and contacted T-Neck in the hopes of scoring a contract.  Having recently set up their own T-Neck label the Isleys were in the market for acts and quickly offered the pair a deal.  Leonetti and Venturini subsequently recruited drummer Tommy Brannick and bassist Jack Douglas for the line-up.
With Leonetti and Venturini responsible for all of the material, "Privilege" rocked way harder than anything in their earlier Soul Survivors catalog.  In fact anyone looking for another slice of 'Expressway To Your Heart' styled blue-eyed soul was likely to be severely disappointed.  Interestingly neither Leonetti or Venturini had handled vocals while in The Soul Survivors.  Picking up cvocal responsibilities in Privlege,  Leonetti may not have been the most amazing singer you've ever come across, but he was professional and competent on tracks like the opening rocker  'Traitor' and the proto-punkish 'The Quiz', His performances were good enough to ensure he wasn't a major distraction given the set's raw hard-rock orientation. These guys were also smart enough to vary their sound with 'Circling' and the closer 'Sojourn' slowing the tempo down with a couple of power ballads.  Leonetti acquitted himself particularly well, turning in some blazing guitar work throughout.  Highlights included the fuzz-guitar propelled rocker 'People' and the Hendrix-influenced 'Purple Dog', though George Thorogood should've covered 'It's Yesterday'.
The one album and two singles seem to have been their complete discography.  Certainly not the year's most original album, but well worth hearing and one of the more pleasant surprises I've come across.

J.E.T. - Fede Speranza Carita

Bitrate: 320K/s
Year: 1972
Time: 47:31
Size: 108,8 MB
Label: AMS Records (2019)
Styles: Progressive Rock/RPI
Art: Full

Tracks Listing:
 1. Fede Speranza Carita - 10:57
 2. Il Prete E Il Peccatore - 11:11
 3. C'e' Chi Non Ha -  6:37
 4. Sinfonia Per Un Re -  8:01
 5. Sfogo -  3:43
 6. Gloria, Gloria (1973 Single) -  3:37
 7. Guarda Con Tuoi Occhi (1973 Single) -  3:21

J.E.T.’s name is not only known to progressive Italian rock fans, but also to a wider audience, given that from their ashes, already in the mid-’70s, the soon-to-be-famous Matia Bazar were born: this new incarnation was able to rework J.E.T.’s last phase most ‘commercial’ hints, leading to a long successful career that still goes on today.
Contrarily to what these words might suggest, J.E.T.’s only LP, originally published in 1972, is so far from the term ‘commercial’ as close to the Italian prog of the golden age: four long and complex tracks – plus the short ending “Sfogo” – with religion-themed lyrics, strong hard rock influences, a solid rhythmic section, keyboards always in evidence and beautiful vocal harmonies, sometimes reminiscent of the typical New Trolls’ falsetto. A timeless album, which still today leaves the listener astonished for its beauty and magniloquence, but also a bit disappointed by the fact that the band didn’t manage to release a follow-up to this masterpiece.
Already reissued on vinyl (AMS LP 27) by AMS Records, “Fede Speranza Carita” is now, for the first time in the history of the AMS record label, also available in the papersleeve CD format, with two bonus tracks drawn from the various 45rpm’s that J.E.T. delivered during their short career: two examples of how the band was able, even on a ‘short time span’, to produce small beautiful gems. A must!

Blues and American roots music, from west coast Swing to the Louisianna swamp/
Johnny "Guitar " Blommer was born in St. Louis MO in 1971, Unbeknownst to him at the time, he lived a mere two blocks from Chuck Berry's nightclub in East St. Louis. The late night music may have been the first of many influences that led him to pursue a life of music, and the guitar in particular.
Founder of the multi-award winning Bad News Blues Band, Johnny's playing is powerful and passionate without being overblown. The rich rhythmic phrasing that is his trademark subtly discloses his early training on drums. Dismissing the boundaries of the fret board, he explores and finds exactly the note he wants. He plays from the heart, giving soulful nods to blues guitar legends Freddy King, Buddy Guy and Albert Collins.
With the up-coming release of Johnny's debut solo album "Still Cadillacin'" the future of this young blues guitarist is looking bright. With his new band the Thousandaires he is sure to make a lasting impression on the blues scene, and bring some much deserved attention to the musical community here in the southwest.
In the last eleven years Johnny has shared stages with many blue legends in including Lonnie Brooks, "Wild Child" Butler, Coco Taylor, Andrew "Jr Boy" Jones, Little Charlie and the Nightcats, "Smokin" Joe Kubeck, Coco Montoya, The Holmes Brothers, Lil' Brian and the Zydeco Travelers, Joe Louis Walker, and Anson Funderburg just to name a few. When the Bad News Blues Band played Buddy Guy's Legends in Chicago, Buddy Guy himself said "I'm flying to Australia in the morning and should have been home hours ago, but I had to stay 'cause you guys music sounds so good".
After three years of touring with Texas blues legend Long John Hunter , Johnny decided to concentrate on his own career and released the highly acclaimed "Knockout" with the Bad News Blues Band which is still selling strong. With the release of "Still Cadillacin'" he's ready to hit the road again and this time... in style.

Texas Southside Kings hits a homer, gathering the collective talents of South Texas musicians Big Walter "The Thunderbird" Price, Junior Moore, Spot Barnett, Willie Sampson, Bubba Mitchell, and Leo Morris with Oscar O'Bear. The badass roadhouse piano and honking juke-joint sax of Doug Sahm's compadre Spot Barnett are in evidence. It's a great down-home release from a tiny record company, much committed to spreading the music of underrated lone star artists who have been around for quite a while. As genuine as you can get, this Blues is true to its own roots and provides the listener with a significant overview of the Texan Blues scene.
JR. MOORE - gtr/voc, OSCAR O'BEAR - gtr/voc, LEO MORRIS - gtr/voc, MIKE KELLER - gtr, GENE TAYLOR - pno/org, SPOT BARNETT - sax/voc, BUBBA MITCHELL - bass/voc, WILLIE SAMPSON - drums/voc.

We’re rock and prog-rock fans, (but not exclusively), going way back, who wanted to create something new, inspired by the ‘progressive’ music we’ve listened to over the years.The music on our debut album, 'Louder Than Words', is an affectionate homage to classic prog: new compositions, but aiming to convey a familiar and beloved sound and feel. ‘Fearful Symmetry’ is not so much a band, more an aesthetic - a set of principles defining our approach to this music - not constrained by genre, but seeking to capture and blend a mix of styles.How we arrived at this concept wasn’t born out of pre-conceived notions. It evolved from conversations between two cousins, both with a love for music - listening and playing.Suzi: “We wanted to create something from past - and some current - influences that would be new but would feel familiar. We think it ticks all the boxes: gongs; animals; esoteric lyrics; time signature changes; bombast; self-indulgence even; a sense of humour; a hidden joke; a concept album. But which concept?“ Jeremy: “When Suzi came up with the exciting idea of creating a Prog Tribute album, the only kind of album it could be was a concept album.  I knew at once that William Blake – poet, artist, visionary, and spiritual revolutionary – was the only possible choice for our subject matter.“ And so, the idea for our first album grew. ‘Louder Than Words’ features eight tracks: seven with vocal elements and one instrumental. We have been lucky to have some wonderful guest musicians agree to be a part of this project, which we hope will give listeners some fun and even a little joy. The standout revelation has been Yael Shotts - her voice becoming integral to the band and its music, her interpretations articulating resoundingly the emotive force of the songs. However you feel about the concept, it’s probably best to let the music speak for itself.

Country time.  Kinda anyway.  You'd be hard pressed to fine a rock album (that still qualifies as one) that boasts more of an Americana vibe than Divine Week's Through and Through.  I'm not so much referring to the "New Depression" variant of alt-country that was codified by the likes of Uncle Tupelo and Ryan Adams in the early '90s, rather the slightly more vintage iteration championed by Green on Red, and to a lesser extent, Lone Justice.  Brimming with twang, heartland fervor, and no shortage of Southern drawl (be it legit or cleverly feigned), Through... cuts an earnest and passionate swath through searing guitar rockers and heavy-handed ballads.  A second Divine Weeks platter, Never Get Used to It, surfaced in 1991.  As a sidenote, Divine Weeks began life as The Need, who were more in the power pop mold from what I've heard.

Junior's Eyes - Battersea Power Station

Bitrate: 320K/s

Musicians:
Mick Wayne - vocals, guitar;
Graham Kelly - vocals;
Tim Renwick - guitar;
John Lodge - bass;
Rick Wakeman - keyboards;
John Cambridge - drums;
Steve Chapman - drums.

Mick Wayne undoubtedly tried hard to be significant and progressive with his songs on Junior's Eyes' sole album. There were meter changes, skilled psychedelic hard rock guitar riffs, and moods both whimsical and cynical throughout. Although the predominant vibe was bluesy psych-prog, there were also quieter, more acoustic interludes. It doesn't add up to much without memorable hooks or vision, though, and the record fails to stick as a noteworthy effort, even by the standards of obscure late-'60s British psychedelia. If you disagree with that assessment, or in any case are still curious enough to track down this collectable release, the remastered 2015 two-CD Deluxe Edition on Esoteric couldn't possibly be a more thoughtful package. In addition to the songs from the original LP, it contains both sides of their three non-LP 1968-1969 singles, four demos of songs from Battersea Power Station, both sides of the 1967 psych-pop single by the Tickle, Mick Wayne's previous band, and two previously unreleased live tracks from an October 1968 BBC session, along with a new essay and restored original artwork. The Tickle single "Subway (Smokey Pokey World)" is the real gem, though a few of the other 45 tracks are rather poppier in approach than most of the album.

In the McKendree Spring exhibit at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame & Museum in Cleveland, Ohio is an attribution that says: “Experimental and innovative, McKendree Spring mixed blues, folk and country with a progressive musical vision. Over the course of seven albums, they highlighted the songs of singer/guitarist Fran McKendree and offered up unique interpretations of songs by Bob Dylan, Neil Young and James Taylor. McKendree Spring built much of its reputation as a live act by featuring the virtuosity of guitarist Marty Slutsky and violinist Mike (Doc) Dreyfuss.” McKendree Spring formed in 1969 as a drumerless four-piece folk-rock ensemble that promoter/manager Bill Graham dubbed "one of the best unknown bands in the world." McKendree Spring toured with some of the most exciting artists of the 70's and shared the stage with performers such as the Everly Brothers, Fleetwood Mac, Frank Zappa & the Mothers of Invention, Elton John, Ike & Tina Turner, Joni Mitchell, Randy Newman, the Byrds, Jethro Tull, and Van Morrison. McKendree Spring played various memorable venues as well including Carnegie Hall, the Fillmore East, Lincoln Center, and Kennedy Center. Not to mention venues that got them there - like My Father's Place on Long Island, the Agoras in Columbus and Cleveland, the College Coffee House Circuit, and Ohio University in Athens. On May 8th, 1972 McKendree Spring performed with Billy Preston in the first-ever rock concert at legendary New York Radio City Music Hall. The band played to a million plus people at the Washington Monument to protest war in Vietnam, and starred on the BBC TV’s “Old Grey Whistle Test” in London with Cleo Lane. McKendree Spring has a knack for covering songs that sounded as if they were written by them or for them. The group is noted for its live shows that brought the crowds - and there are crowds - to their feet. Recording its 30th reunion show May 28, 2006 in front of an amazing audience of fans, their kids, and new friends at the Beachland Ballroom in Cleveland, McKendree Spring finally snared the energy and excitement of its legendary live shows. The result is one richly buoyant album called, “Live at the Beachland Ballroom.” It was a thrill to play. And it’s a thrill to share it with you.

New York City's Hollis Brown (a band, not a person) have a tight, sparse classic rock sound that incorporates melodic pop, slight country touches, and, underneath it all, a kind of bedrock blues sensibility, all of which makes their roots-oriented sound feel warm and genuine. They bring those same qualities to this set, but it is still a bit of a curve ball, given that it isn't an album of new songs from songwriters Mike Montali and Jon Bonilla, but is instead a song-for-song re-creation of the Velvet Underground's 1970 classic album Loaded, which means these are Lou Reed songs, done with reverence, but gently re-imagined. Gets Loaded, which was released in support of Record Store Day, began when Hollis Brown was asked to perform at New York City's Bowery Electric at a tribute show for Reed in November of 2013. The band performed Loaded live in its entirety, later repeating the feat in the studio for this release. Loaded was arguably the Velvet Underground's most accessible and commercially successful album, featuring Reed and VU classics like "Sweet Jane," "Rock & Roll," and "Head Held High," and Hollis Brown do not try to note-for-note them, but simply fold these songs into their own style, although for some reason they reverse Loaded's running order, opening with "Oh Sweet Nuthin'" and closing with "Who Loves the Sun." It's a fun and rootsy spin on N.Y.C.'s greatest ever rock band by a young band that's pretty good in its own right.

 Welcome Inside the Brain is a psychedelic/space rock band from Germany that released it's 2nd full length album 'Queen of the Day Flies' in May of 2019. The sound the band wants to focus on is recreating the psychedelic style from the 60s and 70s. The line up consists of Frank M'hlenberg on vocals, Georg Spie' on guitar, Johann Fritsche on organ, Paul Lapp on e-bass and Moog, and Hans Otto on drums. The album has 7 tracks and a total run time of 41 minutes.
'Baptist Preacher' starts off with a cheery organ that reminds one instantly of The Doors, and the vocals are a bit like Morrison's, but with a lighter tone. The center section has a nice groove with more organ and jangly guitars. It remains quite uptempo all the way through. 'Naked Philosopher' leads out with guitar riffs with a slight bluesy feel to it. There is a heavier sound to this one, and there are more Doors-like sounds, even down to the vibes. After two minutes, there is a rousing guitar solo that adds more power to the track. Since this track nears the 7 minute mark, there is plenty of room for development of intensity. After 4 minutes, things get quiet when the vocals return with only the organ and the emotional level goes up a notch or two, then the original feel comes back driven by guitars and improvising organ.
'Broken Record' begins somberly with soft guitar that brings in a moderately slow tempo. There is a darker feel to this one with a mysterious tone. The melody is quite memorable and interesting. The organ gives everything a slightly spiritual feel, but in pop-psych style. The title track 'Queen of the Day Flies' begins with a heavy guitar/organ riff with frantic sounding vocals and returns to the upbeat, but blues based psychedelic rock sound. For the instrumental break, the tempo speeds up quite a bit and another great guitar solo results. The original riff and tempo returns at the last part of the track.
'White Room' is just over 8 minutes and it is not a cover of the 'Cream' song. It's a basic walking rhythm with catchy beat. The instrumental breaks between the verses become heavier but always lighten up for the vocal sections. After a heavy guitar solo, the music mellows out at the 4 minute mark and later the vocalist comes back with a high falsetto voice as the music floats along for a while. The intensity returns before the 7 minute mark and the vocals become heavier. 'Call Me a Liar' has more of a jazz flair to it, but still retains the psychedelic flair, this time much softer. The vocal melody is a bit more complex. On the instrumental breaks, some interesting passages are squeezed out of the guitar.
'Hometown' finishes up the album. The track starts with atmospheric effects and improvised drumming. Suddenly, after 2 minutes, the music becomes rather humorous and some spoken words about your first joint, then the band kicks in with guitar and organ based riffs. Sung vocals come in later as guitars and organ swirl around the moderate drum pattern. At 4 minutes, things become loose and disjointed as space rock and psychedelic effects come back, but things return to a more structured sound, then another rousing guitar solo bring the vocals back in much more intense and bring the album to a fiery end.
I found this album very enjoyable and entertaining, and it definitely brings in feelings of nostalgia for the psychedelic stylings patterned after The Doors and other bands similar to that. The jamming is not extensive, but there are some great sections that will keep you happy, and the overall sound is more on a rock-blues based psychedelia than the space rock style, though it approaches that from time to time. There is not a lot of progressive styling here, but it does exist, but for the most part, remains quite accessible. However, the music is quite reminiscent of the popular psych bands of the era like The Yardbirds, Cream and, of course, The Doors. The music is fun and appealing, and lovers of that classic sound should enjoy this very much. I would give it 3.5 stars, but it does tip towards the 4 star rating than a 3 star rating.

"Amazing Games", "the second coming" - the sequel to their self titled debut album from 1977. This could very well be described as Saluki's "forgotten" LP - since it never got released as planned in 1978 , when Compendium Records went bankrupt. The album, however, consist of newly recorded songs from the time. Some songs were exchanged with a couple of others from the same period of time. The songs are recorded "live" in the studio with some overdubs, but mostly as it was originally done back in 77.

Original electric blues by a veteran crew of songwriters, mining grooves and heart from the worlds of blues, rock, and rhythm.
The L&M Rhythm Kings offer their own spin on blues, R&B, and roots music while at the same time honoring those traditional forms. This, their first CD, is original songwriting wrapped in the traditions of electric blues with the tight grooves of roots rhythm and rock.
The players share a tight, instinctive, and spontaneous interplay that comes only from decades of playing together. While this is the band's first album of recorded music, the band has worked live shows for nearly ten years. And more, the players have worked together in different combinations since long before that. Having played together for so long, these guys know each other's styles inside out and it shows in the tightly focused performances and arrangements of these songs.
The band is joined on two tracks by the internationally famous blues guitar legend Ronnie Earl. Ronnie has mentored the band generously and is no less than a spiritual member. Also lending his guitar to the album is Chris Vachon, producer, engineer, and guitarist of famed blues outfit Roomful Of Blues. And yet this is not an all-star album; rather, it's a cohesive group of songs by a tight, seasoned group of club-crawling musical veterans at the peak of their powers. Enjoy!

 3. Spider Web Pt. 1 - 3:06
 4. Peak Of Eternal Night - 3:21

 7. Maelstrom - 3:30
 8. Veil Of Shadows - 4:16
 9. Rumble From The Void - 0:48
10. Valley Of The Damned - 4:27

As menacing and unhinged as ever, the pride of Staten Island is back with their fifth full-length offering, V. Raw and absent of the modern technological trappings, the Budos pick up where they left off with 2014’s Burnt Offering, and finds the Budos expanding on the brooding, fuzz-fueled riffs, whilst harkening back to the Ethiopian inspired rhythms and percussive proclivity that put Budos Band on the map. “Old Engine Oil,” a rocker at heart, kicks things into gear and delivers a high-octane burst of Budos mayhem. “The Enchanter” serves up a classic dose of upbeat afro-soul, drenched in a venomous assault of wall-melting proportions that leads you to the “Spider Web,” a rumbling ode to the Cowbell Colossus whose punctuated horn stabs take you on an untamed ride to the dark side of the spoon. The side closes with “Peak of Eternal Night,” whose odd time signature and haunting horns transport the listener to the peak of a menacing otherworldly landscape that’s further explored in the final track “Ghost Talk” – a guitar driven groover that gives way to an organ-washed space ritual beneath sun-summoning trumpet blasts.
Side Two opens with “Arcane Rambler,” an interstellar ramble across space and time that leaves the listener in cosmic purgatory. “Maelstrom,” released as a single shortly after the release of “Burnt Offering,” boasts waves of furious sonic power that batter the listener via a maw of snarling sea-foam bubbling with the power of the Budos. Soon darkness falls as “The Veil of Shadows” is draped across the land – in this realm of twilight one quickly loses their way, only to find themselves at a dusk-to-dawn pyre of budonian proportions. “Rumble from the Void” then pulls you into a percussive black hole of formless beat-worship. There are no horns to help you here, just the tentacles of rhythm that tirelessly pull you back into the void. “Valley of the Damned” closes the record, it’s twisting groove coupled with hypnotic drones of synth and horns transports you to a place of little hope and even less reason.

Savoy Brown fans might be the luckiest fans in the world. No other blues rock act alive today has delivered so much excellent music for so long, and the group shows no signs of slowing down. Their legacy of the godfather of British blues-rock continues with the 2019 release of ‘City Night,’ the band’s 40th album, on the California label Quarto Valley Records.
From the aggressive swagger of the opener “Walking on Hot Stones,” the album is an adventure through 12 blistering tracks of scorching guitar, unrelenting rhythms from bassist Pat DeSalvo and drummer Garnet Grimm, and the soul-weary but indomitable grit of Kim Simmonds’ vocals. Throughout, the bluesman who has seen more of the world than any 20 of his peers sorrows at the troubles of the modern era, as in the acerbic vocal and crystalline guitar of “Neighborhood Blues,” then de?antly commits to the struggle, as in the stomping Bo Diddley-esque “Hang in Tough,” before reveling in the joys the word still offers, as in the rollicking celebration of urban life of the title track “City Night.”
As Simmonds says in his endearing online diary, “Am I getting lazy in my old age? No, I’m not ever retiring! I’m on this train ‘till the end…..”

The album is an environmentally-themed concept album about industrialisation, Americanisation and pollution, and is the band’s ninth studio album of original material.  The band’s drummer Jon Bartley, is also the co-leader of the National Green Party. Jon says: “This album is very fulfilling to me, it’s the first time we’ve done something that aligns with what I do politically. But it’s also got some great tunes and lovely performances”.  The album has been mixed by renowned blues producer and four-time British Blues Award winner Wayne Proctor. Wayne has previously worked with acts like King King, Ben Poole and Oli Brown. He also produced the Mustangs’ last album Just Passing Through. “You always know you’re going to get Grade-A songwriting with these guys“, says Wayne.  “Not just interesting arrangements, but also great lyrics and melodies”.  Main songwriter, singer & guitarist Adam Norsworthy says, “We’ve stretched our wings on this record to take in more of our influences and the music we love, including folk, rock, country, prog and psychedelia. The Mustangs DNA is still present, and we’re hoping that our fans in the blues and R’n’B communities will enjoy taking this journey with us.” WATERTOWN will be released on Skyfire Records and available from Amazon, iTunes and all the usual retailers.

Upperseption – the name being a partly nonsensical coinage – were founded in Altenhundem, situated in the Sauerland in North Rhine-Westpalia, in 1970. They played progressive rock music, influenced by The Nice. The band didn’t release anything back then. Only a few tapes survived, the initial ones recorded in their domestic garage and with a modest sound quality, and later ones from the studio. The Upperseption-LP, “Cornicula”, with recordings from 1970 and a sound which needs getting used to, was released in 2013. The CD “Neo Gourage” contains some more as yet unreleased tracks. The first one, “Rondo (69)”, is a musical revelation, but not for sound purists. The other pieces are recordings of an excellent sound quality from various recording studios; the last – also excellent – recording is from a live performance. The 32-page booklet contains all important details on the subject. An LP edition is not scheduled.

INGRANAGGI DELLA VALLE are a young Roman band created with the goal of evoking the sound and atmospheres of the historical Progressive Rock of the 70s, creating their own music open to fusion, ethnic and jazz-rock influences. The 2013 debut album "In Hoc Signo" is the representative manifesto of their music and philosophy.
The project, conceived by Mattia Liberati (keyboards) and Flavio Gonnellini (guitar), already members of the funk/jazz-rock trio The Big Chill, began in December 2010, with Edoardo Arrigo (multi-instrumentalist) on the electric bass; Marco Gennarini (violin) entered the line-up only in June 2011, after the choice of making a concept album set in the First Crusade was made. During the finalization of the concept album, the band had a long and meticulous selection to find a front man with brilliant vocal, creative and theatrical skills. Only in February 2012 Igor Leone (singer) joined the group. Although Simone Massimi played bass on the majority of the album, the role of the bassist is now filled full-time by Marco Bruno, a friend of the band who played on the album track Cavalcata. Shanti Colucci mans drums and percussion. Also, to round out the sound of the band live, another friend of the band, Edoardo Arrigo, who also played bass and sang some of the backup vocals on the album, is currently with the band playing mellotron, synth, and guitar. After the creative phase, including recording a demo EP in 2011 which garnered the interest of Black Widow Records, the band began recording their first album, In Hoc Signo, in September 2012, at the Roman recording studio Point Of View Records of Paolo Pierelli (sound engineer). The band was pleased to have as a guest in Rome the renowned Mattias Olsson (ANGLAGARD), with whom they recorded the track Jangala Mem; other distinguished guests include the singer Angelica Sauprel Scutti and the great David Jackson (VAN DER GRAAF GENERATOR) on the track Finale. On May 10, 2013, Black Widow Records released their debut album "In Hoc Signo" in CD format, with the painting "In Hoc Signo" by Marcello Toma as cover artwork. A limited edition vinyl is also planned.  Between 2014 and 2015 more than 3000 album were printed and the band played a lot of concerts in italy (FIM, Progressive Live Experiment, Newintage Prog Festival). In this period 3 new member joined the band: Alessandro Di Sciullo (guitars and keyboards), Antonio Coronato (bass) and Davide Savarese (vocals).
Very soon the band started working on the second album "Warm Spaced Blue"/ The recording began on March 2016 at StudioSETTE in Rome but the album was conceived and developed between the winter and the fall of 2015, wrote and arranged by Mattia, Flavio and Alessandro. The new album involves Fabio Pignatelli (Goblin) on bass as a guest.Comments by Todd: This is a wonderful new band, a blend of symphonic and fusion that both hearkens back to the 70s and looks forward as well. Another great artist on the excellent Black Widow label.

Tra gli ospiti musicali Francesca Michielin, che interpreta “Gioco di bimba”, una canzone a cui l’artista è tanto affezionata da averla inserita nella scaletta dei suoi concerti live;
David Cross, il grande violinista inglese famoso per aver militato nei King Crimson e ospite fisso del tour italiano de Le Orme della scorsa primavera, che suona il violino in “Preludio”, “Gioco di bimba”, “Notturno”, “La via della seta”, “Verità Nascoste” e “Amico di ieri”;
