MASTER CYLINDER is an American Canterbury act who appeared in the early 1980s to release a single album, Elsewhere. The lineup consisted of keys, guitar, bass, drums, and various guest play woodwind and brass instruments, making the album an eclectic gem of Canterbury's finest sounds.
The band existed for only a short time, was signed to Inner City Records, and released Elsewhere in 1981 before blinking out of existence. The jazz in this album may be stronger than most Canterbury albums, but connections to CARAVAN and other early Canterbury acts can be seen.
