A good chunk of this obscure private press has solid rocking tracks that recall the ?uid guitar/keyboard groove of early DeGarmo & Key. Examples are ‘Running’, ‘Back Slidin’ Blues’ (not the Petra song) and “Wayfaring Stranger’, all strong numbers with good electric and acoustic guitar leads. There’s a meaty cover of Randy Matthews’ “Hallelujah Brother’ that’s highlighted by a burning hard—rock guitar solo. Other selections like ‘Crazy’ and the title track pull in horns, clavinet, electronic drum blips and ‘70s synths for a lively funk/disco sound. Also a few mellow ballads, including the closing version of Chuck Girard’s ‘Harvest Time’. Four guys and one girl in the group. Arlene Salte makes an appearance, supplying bass and “rhythm axe” for ‘Hell Bound Train’. Front cover says “When I First Saw You…”, continued on the back with “. . . Change Began”. (The Archivist, 4th edition by Ken Scott).
