Passionate, soul drenched vocals and paint peeling guitar work. Shufflin' The Blues is the third official release from Holly Hyatt and Jon Burden.
Formerly known as Holly and Jon and billing themselves as primarily an acoustic act, Holly Hyatt and Jon Burden showcase the electric side of their music with this album. By plugging their instruments in and adding a percussionist, the sound of the duo leans more towards that of the west side Chicago blues trio's of the early 60's (Otis Rush, Magic Sam, Freddie King). Recorded live in front of an intimate audience, the result is a 9 song tour DE' force that pays tribute to Chicago blues, Delta blues and home style original blues.
The album contains 5 electric tracks, 3 acoustic tracks and a slide guitar piece. The first 2 tracks, the Muddy Waters classic, Blow Wind Blow and Memphis Slim's, Mother Earth Blues, are pure Chicago blues and Hyatt and Burden share the lead vocal while Holly anchors the bottom end with her solid, shuffling bass lines. Allowing Jon to lay down some tasty and fiery lead guitar work.
Holly Hyatt and Jon Burden are based out of British Columbia, Canada and work as an acoustic duo and electric trio. They have played on shows with artists such as, Harry Manx. David Gogo, Paul Reddick, Jeff Healey, Colin James, Jim Byrnes, Ruthie Foster, Sonny Rhodes, Rita Chiarelli and Leon Russell.
