Blue Mountain's self-titled first album was released independently in 1993. Containing early versions of some songs that would appear on the subsequent Dog Days, it also contains otherwise unreleased tracks such as "Song Without a Name," "Westbound," and the sublime "In a Station." The raw blues concert favorite "Go 'Way Devil" is to be found here, as well as a more mandolin-heavy version of "Mountain Girl" than the one on Dog Days. Though the album is essential for any Blue Mountain fan, the group's later releases are of more consistent quality and reflect a more mature sound.
