EQULIBRIO VITAL (Vital Balance) was formed in the late '70s, in Maracay, Venezuela. The original lineup consisted of Marcos Chacon on lead guitar, Carlos Serga on guitar, and Guillermo Gonzalez on bass, flute, and guitar. At this point they didn't have a drummer, but they did have artist Jaime Moroldo as part of the band. In late 1980 they were joined by vocalist Elena Prieto (also listed as literary arts, theater, and dance). 1981 saw the addition of drummer Laureano Rangel, and Arnoldo Serga on bass and percussion. Arnoldo also printed the band's first T-shirts with the assistance of Norma Figuera, and Aracely Ramirez.
In 1983 they signed with Color Records, and released their self-titled debut. In December, they were invited to take part in a movie about Venezuelan rock. "Rock Venezolano" also included Tempano , Resistencia and La Misma Gente.
In 1984 they returned to the studio to record "Kazmor el Prisionero." Information is sketchy, but it seems that this was not presented for release at that time. This could be a case of resurrected album.
1986 saw the addition of Maximino Suarez on keyboards, and guitar, and in 1987 they signed with Top Hit. They recorded their third album, "Calor Humano." Unfortunately, it was only released on cassette, and in limited numbers. The next year, Carlos left.
In 1990, they recorded a fourth album, with Guillermo playing sax. Apparently this was only broadcast on radio. This would be Elena's last work with the band, and the rest of decade would see many more lineup fluctuations. However, they continued to work, compose and play.
Tragedy struck in 2001, when Marcos Chacon passed away. In his honor, Musea re-mastered the debut, and released it as Equilibrio Vital "Tributo a Marcos Chacon" in 2003. They also redid "Kazmor el Prisionero" with a few new tracks in 2006.
At this point the band consists of Guillermo Gonzalez, with some technical, artistic, and managerial assistance from Endgork Moroldo, Jaime Moroldo, and Aracely Ramirez. There is a statement that they are working on new material, but that has been said throughout their career. There has not been a proper new release since 1984.
